Labor Day Weekend

We had a pretty long and eventful Labor Day weekend. (Sorry about the long post and all the pictures) It started Friday night with Mike taking the kids craw dad fishing at Strawberry Reservoir so that I could go to Swiss Days with no kids! I was a little sad to be missing the excitement of the fishing but I had a great time kid free at Swiss Days. Of coarse I didn't buy anything because I figure the stuff that I really liked I could make it for way cheaper and make it exactly how I want it! The kids and Mike along with the Taylor's had a great time fishing and they were pretty successful, considering the kids did most of the fishing! If you have never been craw fishing you tie a uncooked chicken leg to a string and throw it out into the water and wait for the craw dads to start eating the chicken leg they are pretty attached to the chicken and you pull it in and drop them into a bucket. Some times you lose some off the chicken leg while you are pulling them in but if you are really careful you can get quite a few into your bucket.

On Saturday we went for a 4-wheeler ride to Whitney Reservoir I love to ride there on the 4-wheelers it is so pretty and peaceful. We got there and let the kids fish for a little while, and had a picnic lunch although we didn't have much success with fishing the kids had a great time trying. On the way home we made a stop so that Justin could shoot Mike's 22. When they went on the Father and Sons camp out Brian Balls had taken a gun and let a few of the kids shoot it when they were on there 4-wheeler ride since that time, that is all Justin has talked about is shooting the gun. So this really made Justin's day! A little further down the trail Garrett decided he needed to pee since he is doing so good with potty training we stopped by a small stream so he could go. We happened to find a couple of frogs the kids thought was pretty neat. Justin even held one and wanted to know if we could take it home so we put them in a water bottle and warned him it might not make it on the long ride home and he could not be to upset if it died. Well they not only made it all the way home but they are still alive! We really have no idea what to feed them or how to take care of them but we are giving it a good try.

On Monday we went for a very cold snowy ride up Snake Creek. We had been planning to go for a ride with the Dagley's for quite sometime and they had rented a 4-wheeler(that they could not get out of) so it was pretty much set in stone that we go. It was snowing on us before we made it a mile up the trail. Garrett didn't really like the snow falling on his face or in his eyes. It was super cold so we decided to just go back to the trucks and eat lunch. Not the greatest day to go for a 4-wheeler ride but we did have fun.

my first day of first grade

It was so cute Justin came out from the back yard riding his bike down the lawn and yells across the street at the neighbor (Brian it's my first day of first grade). Brian asked him if he was nervous and of coarse he said yes, he is such a worry wart. I think he has been worried about starting school since the 24th of July, but as worried as he was he was also very excited. He thought it was super cool when Mrs. Patterson his teacher came to our house on Sunday afternoon and brought him a little treat bag with a super ball, some candy, and a book in it. What a super over the top thing for a teacher to do. It really meant a lot to Justin I think it helped a lot to ease some of his anxiety. I can not believe my little boy will be at school all day. I myself am having a little anxiety over little things like school lunch since he is such a great eater. I guess we will see how his day went at 3:30 when I go to pick him up.

Pool Fun

I have told Justin all summer that we would go swimming we just have not done it. Last week we went to Deer Creek and let the kids play in the sand and float on tubes in the water. Of coarse I forgot my camera but they had a blast. Then before school starts tomorrow and summer vacation is officially over for Justin we went to Orem to the Scera Pool it was just my luck that the pool would not be opening until 3 p.m. and we had to be back in Heber by 5 p.m. to go to back to school night. So we decided to head to the Lehi Pool instead. We met the Bosshardts down there and the kids had a blast. They have this huge bucket of water that when full dumps a ton of water down over the play land. At first the little kids were scared of it but by the time we were ready to go all they wanted to do was watch the bucket dump water. Justin loved the lazy river and the slide on the play land. Garrett spent most of his time on his back he would roll over, float and just giggle. It was a pretty fun day and the kids had a great time!

It's Fair Week

We have been pretty busy. It is fair week in Coalville, Mike's sister is the fair coordinator which means that we spend the whole week in Coalville helping her with whatever needs to be done. Justin is loving it. He gets to spend time with all his favorite people like, aunt Kellie, uncle Wes, Grandma and Grandpa. Along with seeing his favorite people he gets to do a lot of fun stuff! He loves watching and riding with his dad in the wrecker at the derby, he is always quick to tell Mike witch car they should hook onto and pull out first. He usually spends all year talking about the cars at the crash derby. Last night and tonight we have been at the Little Buckaroo Rodeo last night was the timed events where the contestants ride their horses in the Barrels, Poles and the Key Hole! Tonight they did a little rodeo with sheep and Calf riding along with stick horse barrel racing and sheep and calf ribbon pulls. The top 5 kids in each age group from the barrels, poles and key hole got to come back and ride in the main show. The next few nights are the ATV rodeo and the PRCA rodeos with a whole bunch of other daytime activities! It is a crazy week for us but I know Kellie appreciates our help so we don't usually mind to much!

I told Mike he couldn't let go of him! He was happy afterwords because he got candy and a ribbon! Justin would not even get on one. A few years back he actually rode one by himself he was probably 3 it has scared him for life he still talks about how it hurt!

The kids then got to run in the stick horse barrel race both of them had a good time. It was a crazy night trying to do everything that Mike and I were doing to help and let our kids have fun at the same time but from the smiles on their faces it was worth it!

it's finished

We finally finished the driveway! What a project! We put the finishing touches on it last night when we cut the lines in it and sealed it! I thought it would never get done and it probally would not have without all the friends and family that took the time to help us. We really apprectiate it more than you know!
